The SWP was originally created at the height of the Cold War to deal with issues linked to disarma- ment. Today, it provides foreign policy analysis and research to the Bundestag and the German Federal Go- vernment. With roughly 50 researchers, SWP covers a broad spectrum of regional and thematic expertise.
